Cutaway shot for a state-of-the-art drill bit

Rawlplug Ltd, a global leader in the manufacturing of fixing solutions and tools, approached RSL Designs to create a CGI shot for their Rawl R-SDSR Rebardrill bit.

The shot needed to accompany already recorded live footage of the drill bit in use.

Rawlplug kindly sent over the physical product, allowing us to model a 3D virtual version of the drill bit.

Using Blender, Lightwave 3D and Octane Render, we were able to replicate the real-world attributes of the product, including debris resulting from cutting through both cement and metal rebar.

This project served as an excellent example of how CGI can help potential buyers understand exactly how a product works, providing more depth and detail than a standard camera could.
