Recreating a classic, in the future

I grew up in the eighties, the start of the computer and gaming revolution. I was extremely lucky to have owned a Commodore Vic 20, Commodore 64, BBC Master Compact and an Amstrad CPC 464.

But the one computer/console that I have fond memories of is the Atari 2600. It’s classy design was like nothing else I’d ever seen. The joysticks were like those from a spacecraft and the graphics were ground-breaking.

Fast forward nearly 40 years and Atari are looking to launch a new console onto the market… and by the looks of it, it’s going to adhere to some of the design elements seen in the original model. Using only the small number of released pictures, I was able to recreate the look of the concept model, within Lightwave 3D. Using Fusion for post effects and comp.
